A PEEK IN MY STUDIO

A few days ago, you literally could not walk into my studio. My work table was piled high with unfinished paintings, pencils, pens, brushes – just name it – it was on my work table. My camera didn’t even want to record the mess – every picture I took of my studio prior to clean up was blurry. Was that a sign?

So, I went to work to work – and here are the results!

Yes, that is a refrigerator, a microwave and a toaster. The poster of Stephen Colbert is my one throwback to my days as a media buyer, it was a gift from CBS. The poster on the left has a personalized autograph by Peter Max.

Then I went outside and started playing around – it is still a work in progress, but when I am finished, it will be a nice retreat for me.

I didn’t just clean up – I cleaned OUT. What did I find in this process?

Four pairs of eyeglasses

Three lighters (I use fire in my paintings sometimes)

Four exacto knives

A Claddagh ring I bought in Russia! (I know, weird)

This was an inspirational act for me There is something therapeutic about cleaning up and cleaning out. I believe I am on the road to really practicing my word of the year – MINDFULNESS.  See it?

My bulletin board, spray bottles (yes, that is a blow torch up there, and yes, there are twigs on my table .

Okay, Vickie, I want to know if your tools and/or your brushes have names? I can’t remember which bonus MP3 lesson I heard that on with Alyson, but I thought I’d ask. I think that large work table towards the beginning of this post definitely needs a strong name. Please, our inquiring minds want to know. And I look forward to reading the progress reports for your studio redo.

Oh how wonderful to peek into your studio. It makes me laugh that your pre-clearing/organizing photos were blurry. How funny – and how perfect! Isn’t it wonderful to have more aligned clearer energy now. And how neat to have your “mindfulness” present in your studio.

I have never been one to name objects, but I should read up on it and learn about it. The table is 4×8 feet, my husband made it for me early in our life together (he is an artist – he understands!).I always want to name things literary names – so I’m not sure what a name for the table would be, but something strong, I’d like a strong literary character. But, I’m kind of stuck on Sherlock now –

The studio looks great- I should be doing the same thing. My studio is just a disaster right now. Wish I could take a whole day to reorganize- well maybe soon !

I bet Ziggy wouldn’t even walk in before. Doesn’t it feel great to be ready to work? Love it all. Thank you for sharing with us.
